In the midst of a genocidal present and an uncertain future, Stephanie Kayal and Abed Kobeissy revisit their failed crime-fighting power couple from their recent work Galactic Crush Part 1. After completely botching their Don Quixotic mission, the two protagonists face total despair and decide to flee their homeland. They build a DIY intergalactic spaceship and take off in search of hope in another galaxy.
Confronting their protagonists with a harsh gaze, Kayal and Kobeissy question the ethics surrounding such a decision at a time when an entire population is being annihilated for holding on to their homeland. Using dance, live music, video and text, they wield dark humor as both a shield and a tool for survival. Marooned in the cold darkness
Biographies
Stephanie Kayal is a Lebanese choreographer and performer based between Beirut and Brussels. Her work blurs reality and fiction, using low-tech aesthetics to craft absurd, darkly humorous performances. Through dance, music, and text, she explores themes of political despair, hope, and survival. In addition to her collaborations as a performer, her works include Evidence of Things Not Seen (2021), Galactic Crush (2022), The Time It Took You to Realize It Was a Dream (2023), and Galactic Crush 2: Into the Cold (2025).
Based in Beirut, Abed Kobeissy creates music across various genres, including music for film and performance arts. His music carries a strong local identity, unapologetically embracing the confusion of the present, shaped by urban soundscapes and themes of home. He has received commissions from The Berlin Biennale and CTM Festival among others. His projects Two or The Dragon and Stellar Banger released multiple albums. Kobeissy holds a Master’s in music semiotics and has lectured at the Lebanese American University.
