Arcanes is an immersive and sensory theatrical experience, born from the encounter between the incandescent writing of Nelly Arcan and the performative universe of Manon Worms and her company Krasna. Between cabaret, stand-up, and queer performance, the show plunges us into a fictional cave, housing the corrosive texts of the late Québécois author, who passed away in 2009 and is known for Folle and Putain. Throughout this dizzying descent, inhabited by Nelly’s otherworldly voice, bodies undergo metamorphoses, encounters unfold between shame and desire, between Medusa and Britney Spears, and our own memories of “femininity” subtly emerge. A cathartic plunge, the performance observes with humor and tenderness the terror of societal pressures, the horror and beauty of our identity quests, celebrating the vital and resilient powers that dwell within each of us.
